I have always been fascinated with glass. Though I grew up on a farm in southeastern Indiana far from the art world, I did admire local churches with their colorful stained glass. Twenty years ago, I had the opportunity to visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West outside of Scottsdale, Arizona. It sparked my interest in making stained glass. Shortly after that, I had moved to Chicago and found Wright’s works throughout the area to be even more inspiring. I got the basic tools and began my transition into being a glass artist. Though I continue to work as an airline pilot, I still find time to work with glass. My travels around the world have enabled me to experience a diverse range of glass art from many different cultures.
